You may be carrying your baby incorrectly

Carrying babies is a wonderful way to provide closeness and security. However, as with many things, there are several factors to consider to ensure that it is comfortable and healthy for both your child and you. Incorrect carrying can not only cause discomfort for the baby but also have long-term effects on development.

The correct posture: What matters

Babies need particularly stable and ergonomic positioning in their first months. Their back should be slightly rounded, as the spine is not yet fully developed. If the baby is carried too straight or if the legs dangle unnaturally, this can be uncomfortable and even impair hip development. Make sure your baby’s legs are in the so-called “spread-squat position” – this means the knees are higher than the bottom and form an M-shape.

The importance of the carrying system

Not every carrier fits every baby or every wearer. It’s important that the carrier is optimally adjusted and adapts to your baby’s body. A poorly fitting carrier system can cause pressure points and put your baby in an unfavorable position. It’s best to get advice from a specialist retailer or a babywearing consultant to find the perfect solution for both of you.

Recognizing signals: When your baby feels uncomfortable

Babies cry to communicate something to you. If your child cries in the carrier, it could be that something is wrong: perhaps the position is uncomfortable, the carrier is not properly adjusted, or your baby needs a little break. Pay attention to signals such as restlessness or frequent fidgeting and try to find the cause.
